革新的で変幻自在のギター・テクニックで知られる唯一無二の奇才スティーヴ・ヴァイが、30年前にバイカーのためのゴキゲンなド直球ロックンロール作品を制作していた。ヴァイのバイカー仲間だった故ジョニー・”ガッシュ“・ソンブロットとのプロジェクトとして録音していた未発表作『ヴァイ／ガッシュ』。バイク愛好家のヴァイは90年頃、自身がバイカー・カルチャーに夢中だった10代の頃に聴いていたようなストレートなロックを吐き出したいという衝動に駆られていた。そんな時にガッシュと出会う。彼がシンガーでもあると知ったヴァイは、何かに引き寄せられるようにバイカー風の楽曲を彼に歌ってもらったという。「これこそが俺が欲していた声だったんだ。度肝を抜かれたよ」。その頃ヴァイは、アルバム『セックス・アンド・レリジョン』の制作にも取り掛かろうとしていたため（ガッシュはバッキング・ヴォーカルで参加）、ゆくゆくは別プロジェクト用にこれら8曲の他にも録音しようと考えていた。ところが、98年にガッシュがバイク事故でこの世を去ってしまったのである。30年の時を経て、予想外の秘蔵音源がここに公開されることになった。
